120mm Armoured Mortar System II

The 120mm Armoured Mortar System II (AMS II) is the most mobile, responsive and flexible mortar solution available today, offering maximum crew and system protection and delivering effective firepower to a range of 9.2km.

Developed by BAE Systems Land Systems, the AMS II is a responsive, survivable mobile fire support weapon system for mechanised forces. Its fully integrated fire control system eliminates the need for survey - enabling fast, accurate targeting for indirect and direct fire missions.

Ignition can be either percussion or electrically initiated allowing the system to fire the full range of commercially available 120mm smoothbore munitions including SMART and carrier rounds.

AMS Mk1 is currently in service with a Middle East customer with 73 units mounted on the 8x8 LAV chassis. The system has been fully developed and qualified and has fired in excess of 11,000 rounds. 

AMS II is the latest version of the system which incorporates a new turret electrical system based on a CAN-Bus open architecture having all the benefits of latest technology.
