60 mm Long Range Mortar Trainer
The 60mm Long Range Indirect Fire Training Simulator Product is based on Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) with the aim to train each of the mortar crew members being the forward observer, fire directing and mortar crews separately or as a team in a closed-loop scenario.
The instructor can set up the system according to the specific terrain or scenario as required for the training objective. The crew will use an operational bi-pod with an instrumented launch tube to aim according to the data received from the simulator or fire-directing centre. These aiming parameters are then verified by the system using the sensors on the weapon.
Ammunition has the same look and feel as the actual mortar round and the system verifies the number of charges used, type of ammunition as well as the fuse setting on the specific round. This information is recorded when loaded into the launch tube. Once loaded, compressed air is used to simulate the re-coil action.
A cut-away section at the bottom of the launch tube enables the crew to remove the simulation ammunition from the weapon. The simulator system provides a "Train as you Fight" approach in a controlled and safe environment.
Specific training exercises can be compiled and used as an objective evaluation and qualification method before the crew progress to live firing training. Re-play of the exercise is possible providing a means of de-briefing and corrective training. Real-time interaction by the training instructor adds realism of changing enemy strategies.
